Karl Hevroy of Norway began the final table of the PokerStars.com Latin American Poker Tour Main Event at Punta del Este, Uruguay with a commanding chip lead, and when all was said and done all of the chips were his. Hey. Welcome back. We're bringing back this weekly feature, Poker Plays with Pokerpeaker, where I go through my thought process of playing a hand and try to present some lessons along the way.

Because it's poker, I'll never say I played the hand perfectly. In fact, it's my hope to present hands where I believe I made mistakes, so we can both learn something them. Of course, I'll also give you some good hands, so you don't think I'm a complete idiot.

I am primarily a low-limit, no-limit or pot-limit player, and my three favorite games are Hold 'Em (of course), Omaha and Razz, so that's usually what you'll see here. Read full

Online railbirds the world over were getting restless this week as the heavily publicized “durrrr Challenge” match between Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonius remained on indefinite hiatus. While Antonius posted a banner week online, earning over $1 million over several dozen sessions, Dwan was more or less absent from the action during the second half of the week. The 2009 WSOP will undergo mass changes to both the levels and the starting chip stacks given to players. All events will be affected in a bid to free up the game and allow players more scope for plays and strategy. A triple buy-in structure on all events will mean players get three times the buy-in of chips. Of interest to most will be how this will effect the Main Event.

In 2008, players who sat down in the Main Event would have been faced with 20,000 starting chips, double what they received the previous year. In 2009, the figure will rise to 30,000. Increased starting stacks will grace all of the events in the WSOP. In addition to the increased starting stacks, levels will be added to accommodate the increased amount of chips.

I’m not sure if it’s happening in the lower stakes but from what I hear it’s happening across all levels. That was pretty inconceivable a year or two ago and for someone who’s trying to make money full-time, it’s quite difficult when there’s no one at your table giving money away!

So what’s going on? You’ve probably notic
