I'm a big fan of Ante Up For Africa for several reasons. First, it's for a great cause (although I could argue that there are causes that need attention in the United States, but that's one of the great things about our country is we've always gone out of our ways to provide aid to others who don't have it as good as we do). Second, it brings poker to the forefront for at least one day with big names like Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Don Cheadle partaking in the festivities.

The one thing I don't like, however, is the f'in paparazzi. They come in and act like they own the world and they don't care who is in their way, if they have a shot they want to get, they are going to do whatever it takes to get to it. Read full

The final play day of the $2,500 Mixed event featured the race for the title coming down to a battle between Jerrod Ankenman and Sergey Altbregin.

The remaining 14 players returned for the final play day of the $2,500 Mixed event and even though Jimmy Fricke ended Day 2 by losing a large portion of his stack, he entered Day 3 in a great manner, picking up pots whenever he could. Soon enough, his short stack of just  to 47,400 in chips climbed up to 335,000.

It didn’t take long for the first victims of the day to fall, namely Blair Rodman and the winner of Event #10 Rami Boukai had to pack their bags first.

Some say that pot-limit Omaha is the next hold’em. While it certainly has a way to go before experiencing that same wide-ranging and global appeal, PLO is growing in popularity with each and every tournament circuit. And the world championship $10K buy-in event at the World Series of Poker brought 295 players out for it, most of them well-known faces in the poker world, but others looking to express their Omaha proficiency.

The day started out with ten hopefuls waiting to be condensed to the final table of the Deuce to Seven NL Event 23 at the World Series of Poker. Roland De Wolfe was the first to fall which was not much of a surprise being that he was the short stack. Then Justin Smith took the fall, and players were down to the final table.

The day started out with a lot of excitement as two more players were unable to build their chips. Michael Binger was a short stack and moved all in from early position. John Juanda made the call. To everyone’s surprise, Binger opted to draw two cards. This seemed to perplex Juanda as well, and he took a moment to decide how many he was going to draw. H
