Olivier Busquet made one of the most dramatic comebacks in WPT history to win the 2009 WPT Borgata Poker Open on Thursday.

The 28-year-old online poker player entered the final table as the commanding chip leader but soon found himself in trouble when opponent Jeremy Brown started busting player after player.

Brown eliminated three players and by the time they were down to heads-up play Brown held a 3-1 chip lead over Busquet. The situation went from bad to worse for Busquet, who by the 18th hand had only 1.5 million chips to Brown’s 29 million.

Somehow Busquet found a way to battle back and, after a few lucky hands, finally landed the knockout blow to eliminate Brown and claim the $925,514 for first place.

“I’m a little bit overwhelmed by the whole thing,” said Busquet shortly after his victory.
