Phil “The Unabomber” Laak will attempt to break the world record for the most hours of poker played in a single sitting during the 2010 World Series of Poker.

The UK’s Paul Zimbler is the current record holder, having played 74 hours, 20 minutes and 21 seconds straight inside London’s Casino at the Empire during the 2009 WSOP Europe.

Laak’s attempt will begin June 2 at the Bellagio poker room in Las Vegas.

“I have played many enduro sessions of poker, but never anything of this magnitude,” Laak said.

“I know this will test my limits, but I love a good challenge and am excited to be trying to beat this record in Vegas’ top poker room.”

Laak is regular on televised poker shows like Poker After Dark and High Stakes Poker, but is perhaps most recognized as the player with the beat-up hooded sweatshirt pulled over his head at the poker table and for his relationship with Hollywood actress turned poker pro Jennifer Tilly.

He is also well known for his animated personality, banter at the tables and participation in often bizarre prop bets with good friend Antonio Esfandiari.
